Young People’s Advocacy
An advocate is somebody who will…- Listen to you
- Be on your side
- Go to meetings with you or for you
- Speak up for you and make sure you are heard
- Tell people what you want
- Help you to make a complaint if you want to
- Be full trained
- Completely separate from social services
- Not tell anybody anything you do not want them to know (unless what you say makes them worried about you or anybody else)
- Care about making your voice heard
- Be honest with you
- Making a complaint
- Support at your LAC review
- Support if you are involved in the child protection process (if you are over 12)
- Placement and accommodation
- Contact with people who are important to you
- Are in care, leaving care, involved in the child protection process or have a social worker
- Are under 18
