Young People’s Advocacy

An advocate is somebody who will…
  • Listen to you
  • Be on your side
  • Go to meetings with you or for you
  • Speak up for you and make sure you are heard
  • Tell people what you want
  • Help you to make a complaint if you want to
Your advocate will…
  • Be full trained
  • Completely separate from social services
  • Not tell anybody anything you do not want them to know (unless what you say makes them worried about you or anybody else)
  • Care about making your voice heard
  • Be honest with you
An advocate will only be your advocate if you want them to be. An advocate can help you with…
  • Making a complaint
  • Support at your LAC review
  • Support if you are involved in the child protection process (if you are over 12)
And also…
  • Placement and accommodation
  • Contact with people who are important to you
If you feel you need support with being heard and you…
  • Are in care, leaving care, involved in the child protection process or have a social worker
  • Are under 18
Then you can have an advocate from Anglia Care Trust.
