Energy Worries? Top Tips

Energy bills are rising this month, as the Government withdraws the £67/month support payment that everyone has been receiving for the last 6 months. Standing charges also rise this month, and we know that this will be a huge problem for many people. Our Money Advice Team has several tips to help you cope:

  • First and foremost, don't struggle alone - and don't bury your head in the sand - problems will only get worse, and will be more difficult to sort.

  • The first port of call is your energy supplier - all suppliers in this country are governed by Ofgem, the energy regulator, and have an obligation to support vulnerable people and those that are struggling to cope with their energy bills in various ways. Talk to them and explain your situation - each energy supplier will have their own schemes to help you to pay.
