Empowerment Fund
Why was it set up?
Many of our services are run through funding from local authorities and national trust and grant-awarding bodies. However, with the demand for our services ever increasing, there is a limit to what this can cover. Our mission is to encourage people to achieve their full potential, whatever their circumstances and sometimes this requires funding beyond contractual constraints – we therefore established our Empowerment Fund for this purpose.
How is it funded?
It is funded purely by donations. Any fundraising carried out and kind donations received are added to this fund.
What is it for?
Everything that goes into this fund is solely for the use of our service users. The main criteria to access the fund is that it must be an ad hoc service user expense that isn’t covered by any other loans and grants and must contribute in some way to empower the individual.
Here are just some of the things our Empowerment Fund may help with:
-
Clothes or travel costs for an unemployed service user who is attending an interview for a job that will help build independence.
-
Clothing and toys for an individual or family that has fled their home and is starting again.
-
Furniture for one of our tenants.
-
Funds to fix a laptop that a service user may need to complete job applications or vital forms.
-
Basic gardening equipment for someone keen to get outside and maintain their garden to improve their mental health.
