#TrusteesWeek

TrusteesWeek is about thanking our incredible board of Trustees for everything they do. We asked them to tell us why they decided to take on this voluntary role and help with the governance of ACT. Here's what they told us:

As Chair of Anglia Care Trust, I am proud to be part of an incredible team of Trustees who dedicate their time, skills, and passion to support our mission. Trustee Week is a great opportunity to reflect on the impact Trustees have in shaping the future of charities like ours, ensuring governance, accountability, and sustainability.

At Anglia Care Trust, we work tirelessly to support vulnerable individuals across Suffolk and our Trustees play a vital role in guiding the charity's direction and ensuring we continue to serve our community with integrity and compassion. This week, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all my fellow Trustees and the wider charity sector for their continued dedication and expertise. Together we can continue making a difference.

I chose ACT as a trustee because it's, an organisation that deeply resonates with my personal values. This role allows me to give back to the community while also expanding my knowledge and expertise at the board level.

Being a trustee has been really rewarding as I am part of a charity doing so much good within my community. It gives me the opportunity to contribute and give back whilst also developing myself professionally.

It is a voluntary opportunity and trustees oversee the governance of the organisation. The day to day management is done by the a fantastic management team. I work full time and am able to do the trustee responsibilities and meetings outside of this. Over the last year I have really valued the experience and would encourage others to consider how they can get involved. I feel proud to play my small part in the fantastic work Anglia Care Trust undertake.

I've had the privilege of serving as a Trustee, Finance Committee Chair and Treasurer for Anglia Care Trust for over three years  and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. While the role of Treasurer is both important and challenging, it is deeply fulfilling to contribute to a financially stable charity that is passionate about supporting the communities we serve.

Being part of a dynamic board with diverse skills, all aligned with the charity’s values and mission, makes the work even more gratifying. I’m proud to be part of an organisation that truly makes a difference.

I used to work for Anglia Care Trust and have always believed in the work they do.  Values are important to me and I share mine with ACT.  I decided to become a trustee because I want to contribute to the organisation and hope I can add some value through the trustee role.

Towards the end of my career,  and now that my children have grown up, I find I have more flexibility to be able to give some of my time for others. Having purpose in my life is extremely important to me and one of the ways in which I can find it is through acting as a Trustee for Anglia Care Trust (ACT). Charities need Trustees in order to operate. There is real responsibility involved in performing the role; it must not be taken lightly. However, by doing so enables the real work of the charity to take place. ACT provides such vital work in the East of England and looks after people in a way that, I believe, fits well with my values and principles. Having spent a number of years building a career to support my, and my family’s, ambitions in life, I am now shifting more towards supporting those in the community in which I live, who have been less fortunate than us.  Providing a helping hand and using some of my experience to offer advice and act as a critical friend is one way that I can do this.

Anglia Care Trust makes an enormous contribution to the Region, helping very many people who have a wide variety of needs. It has been a great privilege to serve as a Trustee during a period of positive growth and ongoing change.

I am proud to be a Trustee for ACT, and help the organisation achieve its objectives. ACT provides a wide range of diverse services and projects, but at its heart, the Trustees, staff and volunteers are united by a common bond to help people who are experiencing difficult times.  Giving my time to support ACT helps me to make a positive impact, and I find it extremely rewarding
